About

Working as a chef onboard luxury superyachts for the past 6 years, people have often asked me what my favourite dish to cook is or where is the best place I have visited.  Both are very difficult questions to answer, there is so much variety in what I do, no two days are ever the same.  Different countries mean different available produce and supplies, different guests mean different tastes and requirements, likes and dislikes.  It certainly keeps things interesting.

I was raised in Southampton, England, by seafaring parents and it was no surprise that I was drawn to a life on the water. Completing my first trans-Atlantic crossing at the age of 18, on a 72ft sailboat, I knew I was destined for a life at sea.  Since then I have  run professional kitchens ashore and worked alongside some of the best chefs afloat.

Working on yachts has taken me all over the world.  I have spent time in Asia and the Far East, sailing the Indian Ocean from Hong Kong to the Seychelles, as well as transiting the Panama Canal to sail the west coast of Alaska, Canada and the USA.  I have cruised the Caribbean and Mediterranean extensively and the food I cook has definitely been influenced by the places I have been.

I feel very privileged to be able to indulge my passions for both food and travel on a daily basis.  Inspired by a recent conversation with a guest onboard, I have decided to write a blog to share with you my experiences at sea, the places I visit and the food I prepare.

I hope you enjoy.

Nikki xx

    Hi Nikki!
I came across a link to your site via dockwalk.com and I am so glad that I decided to check it out. You have wonderful recipies, articles and stories; I particularly like the historical backound of the food too. I have been to some of the places you mentioned (Capri, Greece, ect.) and love learning more about them as I hope to return as a yacht chef myself one day. I am 18 years old and an aspiring yacht chef, do you have any tips or advice for success? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you for creating this site and I look forward to reading my e-mails from you!
    from, Dayna W.
